What is Good // Where to Sell Bunting

My original plan was to get a stall at the Reet Sweet Craft Fair at the Corn Exchange as a friend of a friend of mine organised the event, unfortunately the next event is not until OCTOBER, so that does not work for me.

The Plan:
  • Find out if there are any other craft events at the Corn Exchange
  • Contact Full Circle to enquire if they have any events there or if the guy who owns it is willing to let me set up a stall over a weekend.

What is Good // Bunting // Concept

Initially my concept was to design a few 'how to make your own bunting kits' and perhaps some stationery.  After some thought, I decided that this was too simple a concept and didn't give me enough chance to design many things.

The New Concept:

My new concept has more to it.  The idea is to make bunting out of recycled materials which I am going to try and get people to donate, for example old unwanted clothes and old bed sheets would be excellent.  I intend to make the bunting myself, with maybe the help from a friend and then hopefully sell it at the 'Reet Sweet Craft Fair' at the Corn Exchange.  I have already spoken to a friend of mine who says I may be able to get a table at the craft fair for free which would be excellent, but this still needs to be confirmed.  As the bunting will be made from recycled materials it will be inexpensive to make.  The money made from the event I will donate to a local charity, one that Leeds Shoppers can relate to.

Things to Design:
  • Branding for event/donation of clothes
  • Packaging for Bunting
  • Business Cards
  • Table Display (will have to be professional and beautiful to compete with other stalls)
  • Posters for the event
  • Posters around college to get people to donate material
  • Badges
Also as I develop my concept and keep working on it, I am sure other things I'll need to design shall crop up.

Below is a spider diagram of my current thoughts about the project:

  •  Bunting will be sewn by me
  •  Sold in 3m lenghts
  •  Made from recycled/re-used materials
  •  Possible Places to sell - Corn Exchange, Full Circle, College
  •  The Charity has to be a local one that shoppers can relate to, any leftover bunting I could sell another time.
  • The price will be affordable as all fabric used will be donated, also so people actually buy the product

Still need to:
  •  Think of a name
  • Contact Reetsweet & Full Circle

Just been having a little think of what the packaging might look like, I think this will be a massive selling point.  It is a bit soon for this but I was just jotting down some idea's.  Now I need to plan plan plan!

Below is a screen shot of a collection of Packaging images which I took to the Crit today to help people get an idea of what kind of style and feel I want this project to have:

Feel Good Fruits // Felty Faces

When organising my folder I came across lots of off cuts from the felt key rings I designed and created on the laser cutter.  As the project is called Feel Good, I decided to make smiley faces out of the material.  I wish that I had done this sooner, I would like to create a stop motion with the top image as the felt isn't actually stuck down, I think it could look really effective.

UK Greetings Card // Initial Starting Point

Below you can see the process and development of my illustrations and how they progressed to the computer and then onto the laser cutter.

I decided that the above illustrations were too simple so I developed it further onto this:

I then traced the lines with the pen tool.

I created multiple amounts of the shapes to allow me to make multiple russian dollls

I thought this illustration could be suitable for men or women

The owl could be suitable for younger people

The VW van could be suitable for correspondance to men and women and children, could be used for birthdays, bon voyage, anything really.

I have left my cards as blank correspondence cards to enable the user to use the cards for any occasion they may choose.

Ella's Kitchen // Final Pictures of Product

Katie and I booked out the photography studio to photograph our tree, we wanted to have some good quality photo's of it as we had spent quite a bit of time on it, it took ages to cut out on the laser cutter!

We are both very pleased with our photographs as it was the first time we'd booked out the studio and used the equipment without supervision.  We did need a little help but I know feel like I have the confidence to do it alone.

We are also pleased with the aesthetic and of our tree and think it would suit it's purpose well to inform people of the brand while also proving the brand values of imagination and playfulness.

Below are the partner design boards which we sent off to the competition.  Katie put these one's together while I worked on the poster designs.

Batiste // Final Designs :) // Presentation Boards

Above are my four final designs for Batiste.

Batiste for Men - Fresh Sea Air
Batiste for Festivals - Wild Flowers

Batiste Holiday Hair - Citrus Fresh

Creative Networks Beer // Hellfire Final Mock Up & DESIGN BOARDS

Below is my label design for Hell Fire for Leeds Best Brewery.  The design was originally going to be on a white background, but I think the transparent background works well as the colour of the beer bottle fits with the colours used.
